Jim Esdaile is a litigator with both local and national recognition.
His practice concentrates on complex tort litigation, including
medical malpractice and products liability, as well as extensive
experience in business and financial disputes. Mr. Esdaile's professional
skill has been recognized by his admission as a Fellow to the elite
ranks of the American College of Trial Lawyers (DATE); he is also
a member of the Boston, Massachusetts, and American Bar Associations,
as well as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. While in
law school, Mr. Esdaile served as Managing Editor of the prestigious
Boston University Law Review (DATES). Following his graduation,
cum laude, from Boston University School of Law in 1970, Mr. Esdaile
clerked for Chief Justice G. Joseph Tauro in the Massachusetts Supreme
Judicial Court. After serving in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate
General Corps, Mr. Esdaile joined the firm, also returning to the
Law School as an instructor in legal methods. Mr. Esdaile has written
and lectured on topics related to civil litigation practice, authoring
"The Collateral Source Rule," 68 Massachusetts Law Review
1983. He has also served on the Governor's Task Force on Alternative
Dispute Resolution (1985-1987), as Commissioner of the Governor's
Special Commission on Medical Malpractice (1984-1991), on the Massachusetts
Superior Court Committee on Time Standards (1987-1988), and as a
member of the Board of Directors of the Flashner Institute (1987
to present).
